This is a group of driving instructors that work for KISS driving school. They meet once a week for 3-4 hours to exchange/update/ brush/ improve their teaching skills. I was very fortunate to be able to attend their meetings in Bishop's Stortford. This way i could drive with 3-4 driving instructors who could give me another angle on what I was trying to achieve - how to park and handle roundabouts etc... ( these were my weakest points when learning to drive). It was an amazing experience to have these experienced driving instructors there, ready to answer all my questions and give me a feedback. Learning with them was so much quicker and their input so helpful. I wish every student had this opportunity. Imagine you have 4 driving instructors that can explain you the same thing but in different words from slightly different angles! It's so much easier to connect the dots after! Another thing that i loved about these Monday meetings is that the KISS driving school feels more like a family rather than just a business orientated company. Everyone who works there is professional, friendly, selfless, they all have a great sense of humour and it's a pleasure learning to drive with them! Thank you so much!
I first started driving in Nigeria but for sorts of reasons on returning to UK it was difficult to buckle down and get my licence. In all honesty I didn't really mind going by public transport. However, that all changed about five and a half years ago when I started a job which is a four hour commute by public transport on a good day.
There were many challenges. Bad habits! A phobia for manual cars. Time! I started lessons in 2010. I would start then life would take over and I would stop. In this period both my daughters were taught by Rob and passed their tests. In fact my younger daughter now drives commercially. After many starts and stops my daughters bought me an intensive course with Rob. I didn't pass the first time but Rob patiently persevered often giving me lessons early in the morning. And today I got my licence. I am over the moon! He is skilled, methodical and makes it simple to understand and retain. He is excellent at teaching manoeuvres. I would recommend Rob to anyone and I know that my daughters have with great results!
Tony assessed my driving and said he would be able to help me to get the licence within the period given for me as a returning Resident. I feared the Theory test and became quite nervous and might not have gone through without his encouragement I got it on the second attempt. Then it was the practical test at my age I became unexpecterdly nervous as I had to sit it more than once. I found myself getting stressed and not concentrating properly. Tony was throughout calm and aware of my condition and tactfully got me to a more switched on state. He was full of encouragement and it made me believe in myself. till todays happy result. I do not intend to relax now and take up my old possibly bad habits I have learnt so very much from him I intend to remember his advice and he gave it in such a way I am pretty sure I will be an even better driver and will hopefully remember his warnings and continue a lifetime of accident free driving. On a serious note; if anyone is uncertain about taking a test If Tony can get me through I know you too will succeed and wish you all success.
Most of all I have gained even more confidence and safe skills when I have missed my exit or needed to find my way on the road. Not only that my skills and knowledge were enhanced, I can get a discount for my car insurance because of pass plus! Thank you Mr. Mike Entwistle for all the knowledge and skills that you have taught me. You are an exceptional teacher/driving instructor indeed.
Upon my initial lesson with driving instructor Kelvin Potter, I immediately knew I was in great hands (especially since he trusted me to drive on the dual carriageway on our first lesson). I will never forget going 70mph and having anxiety replaced with sheer joy and confidence. His way of teaching and sociable nature greatly helped me relax and not feel pressured as I often am at work. And on the many occasions where errors were made, he'd fully explain in detail as to what caused it and ways to prevent such errors. Every day since the inception of my course, his direction has allowed me to improve upon each facet of driving. I also felt comfortable in asking him queries regarding driving and no matter how silly they were, he'd always be happy to answer.
By the end of it I felt as though Kelvin had taught me every trick in the book and I went from a nervous mess to, I'd like to think, a pretty confident and responsible driver. Without a doubt, I completely recommend Kelvin Potter to all future learner drivers wanting to not only pass but achieve something greater.
